  •  Thank you for what you're doing. As a severely (6+ / 0-)

mentally ill person with many severely mentally ill family members, it means so much to me to hear about your support for her. I know it must be AWFUL for you to deal with that.

    •  There have been some really rough times. (1+ / 0-)

The worst was shortly before she got kicked out. She was sneaking up behind me with large objects to hit me over the head with. She was having conversations with non-existent people about killing me and taking over the apartment.

She's on monthly injections now and that has made a huge difference. She doesn't want to get the injections, but I tell her if she wants to stay with me she has to take them.

      •  That's some scary shit. Christ, you are a good (0+ / 0-)

        person!!

        •  Well, maybe, maybe not. (0+ / 0-)

Truth be told, I've made my share of mistakes, one in particular that hurt a lot of people emotionally. It was something that I could have done a couple years in prison for, but since I turned myself in before anyone was even aware of what I'd done, since I owned up and took responsibility, the judge suspended my sentence.

I've been shown mercy and therefore feel I have an obligation to show mercy to others. Loving your neighbor as you love yourself - if you really love them - means you are willing to make at least some level of sacrifice; take some level of risk.

I was a Christian, but am now an atheist. However, I will always try (sometimes I try harder than others) to live by Christ's example. He may have been a mere mortal, or for that matter he may well not have actually existed at all. But the beauty in his story and in much of what he taught moves me deeply.

        •  Oh, and to make clear my "good person" (0+ / 0-)

status has very definite limits? When it comes to Republicans they can all, each and every one, eat shit and fucking die. I save my compassion for those who are deserving of it. Republicans are underserving until such time that they see the error of their ways and become Democrats, and I don't mean blue dogs. :-)
