  •  And I think.... (0+ / 0-)

It is shitty for you to expect the state's top election official to act like a partisan. That's what Republicans do. I am glad Debra Bowen has more integrity than Katherine Harris, for example.

I call it "the Breathing Syndrome." When Obama breathes in, they will criticize him for using air. When he exhales, they will complain about pollution. If he holds his breath, they will attack him for doing nothing.

    •  If she doesn't want to be a partisan... (4+ / 0-)

Then she should have either not run for Congress or resigned her office in order to do so.

This is petty hypocrisy, nothing more.

    •  Was she not acting like a partisan (3+ / 0-)

when she ran for Congress as a Democrat?

don't agree with what you are saying but on a side note I really like your user tag. Clever, did you come up with it?

I came up with "The Breathing Syndrome" about 40 years ago and just adapted for the current situation. It seems to fit.

    •  I think this is a pro forma (0+ / 0-)

thing for a SoS to do (at least one with integrity and desire to retain credibility as an elections official), so as not to make people think the vote counting and certification is biased.   I don't think many Bowen supporters will take this as a sign to vote for Huey or sit out altogether.

That said, it's unlikely the special election will be close enough for the result to be determined by Bowen's vote counting or certification standards.  If it is, then Hahn and her campaign will be primarily to blame, not Bowen.

Bowen biasing the vote counting/certification, surely they would have voiced that concern when she got in the race.
