      Silver is around $35/oz, gold's around $1500.

      Keep the quarter.. . it's worth around $6.50. (based on current APMEX prices)  As bullion, I'm assuming it's in "circulated" or worse condition and has negligible numismatic value.

        more than gold relatively speaking.  That's what I meant.

        There's a sandwich shop I go to that from time to time I've gotten old coins back in my change.  I have to wonder is someone simply likes to get rid of his or her 50 year old coin drawer.

            I've received a 1947 dime, a 1913 penny, two nickels from the 1940s and now this quarter.

            There was another shop when I lived in New Orleans that I would ask them to give me my change in the 50 cent pieces I saw in the change drawer.  I got two 1964 and three 1966/67 Kennedy half dollars.  No Franklins though.
