         PATTON:

It isn't important for them to know.

It's only important for me to know.

The GOP has fallen for its own act.

    •  FOX may be playing a part (4+ / 0-)

The Republicans have FOXnews as their cheerleaders and soapbox as well as a having high paying second career opportunities for Republicans in between their government gigs.

I think we are beginning to see is that the trappings of faux news sets, which look like most other high quality media operations, are creating confusion for the Republicans who ply their trade within their confines.

FOX has become a comfortable home and the politicos who spend lots of time there become immune/aclamated to the surroundings to the point they forget that this form of media only services one quarter of America.

The echo chamber becomes their entire world and clouds their critical thinking causing them to believe they actually have won the war of ideas here in the USA.

This FOX phenomena is beginning to cause problems for the Republicans as they operate in the non-FOX America where their ideas are not only not accepted but are overwhelmingly rejected by poll after poll on the subjects of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

I am very happy to see this FOX based enablement of the Ideological Right swell up the egos of Republican politicians to the point of unrealistic overreach that is vivid and easily spotted by the rest of us Americans.

In 2010 less than 90 million Americans voted, turning the House and far too many State governments into Republican controlled entities.
The 2010 victories were quickly consolidated into ideologically driven campaigns to destroy their opposition by errecting roadblocks to those who fund their political opposition and by making it impossible for some to vote while making it more difficult for everyone to vote.

FOX has made Republicans believe themselves and their arguments and as a result we have seen Republicans act is if their actions are welcomed by all.

For this thick dollop of hubris I thank Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes, as I beleive that  FOX itself has sewn the destruction of what once was a proud American political Party by turning it into an ever shrinking rightwing parody of itself.

Or are we seeing the veil lifted?

The veil is getting lifted.  Most of us who were at one time rational Republicans left the party long ago.  Now people are starting to see that it wasn't "just a few crackpost which every party has" but the people who are Republican candidates and leaders.

I can't tell you how frustrating it has been for years to tell smart, rational Republican friends that this party has been made up of idiots and get the response above.  My response has been, go work in the Republican Party for two years and then come back and talk to me.  None have taken me up on my offer.  But now they're beginning to recognize what I have been telling them for years.

because it worked so well for Napolean and Hitler, he's pretty sure it'll work this time.

It's all so clear to me now. I'm the keeper of the cheese. And you're the lemon merchant. Get it? And he knows it.
