...and as of November 2010, there is nothing that President Obama or the Democrats in Congress can do about jobs. You cannot stimulate the economy (and go into further debt) because the Republicans in the House won't let it happen and the private sector shows no signs of engaging in a hiring frenzy.

The Republicans have their issue and we have no answer but to say once again what McCain mouthed at the first State of the Union "Blame it on Bush".

Time will tell if that will work. In the meantime, the Republicans are busy gerrymandering, disenfranchising voters and busting unions.

The November 2010 election was crucial. The Republicans control the budget and will take the economy over the cliff, as Reich points out.

All Obama has is his mouth and he and his surrogates better start using them, and doing it in clever ways that forces the media to pay attention. Picture Bush going to a filing cabinet in Virginia and saying that's where all of the IOU's for Social Security are.

We are beyond speeches. We need street theatre. We also need to awaken the base a la Wisconsin.

    Remember Wisconsin.

I didn't intend the above as a factual statement.

    •  If FDR or Harry Truman (9+ / 0-)

were around today, they would disagree.    They were Democrats of a different generation, who felt a moral imperative to fix problems like unemployment.  They didn't question whether it was necessary or put political jitters ahead of their fellow Americans.

Wish we had more of those kind of Democrats in DC today.

...,except for two years under Truman, in Congress. Of course the republicans didn't achieve another majority in Congress until 1994 (I think) again due to how badly they overplayed their victory. But that was then and this is now.

pounding of what actually went down for 10 years prior.
Dems need to remind the nation of this:

But far more crucially, they need to inform the nation of the obstacles put up by plutocrats who have constrained regulatory agencies and concentrated the media into a tight little cabal committed to the distribution of baloney and bullshit. They should not pretend that if they don't mention this reality it will go away.

The story being bought sold is that what happened over Bush's reign is over and that it is time to move on.
Bullshit. It's not over, it's just picking up real steam. The results of Citizens United was just getting warmed up for 2010. Now the organizations are hot to go.

That we can keep pressure on
