    Um.....

Is there some reason that DailyKOS continues to obsess over bills passed in the HOR that stand absolutely no chance of EVER passing the Senate and reaching the President - and a zero chance of becoming law?

    I mean - talk about obsession. :D :D

    Just sayin.

If you did this for every exemplar of this tactic, there would be no room on the front page for anything else.....

    •  Because the readers need to have examples (7+ / 0-)

presented to re-enforce the necessity to remove these idiots from office.  And why we should never allow them to control more than what they have now....

        I'm confused.

Don;t we already have about 27 examples from this Representative - far more than enough to fuel a 'we need to get rid of this kind of moron" position? :D

I mean - I could see this as a diary - but I simply think that giving it this much attention and space is a waste of time for something that - again - has ZERO chance of passing and becoming law.

I hate to see people waste emotion and time and effort and reaction over something that is, in the end, meaningless.

But I suppose I understand why it is done. :D

    •  Because whether or not it passes (10+ / 0-)

these bills PROVE what women have been saying here: the right has an absolute hate going for women.

And WOMEN matter.  If abortion becomes illegal, women will die. I am old enough to remember that.

        •  I mean, you could say the same thing about (5+ / 0-)

many diaries on gay marriage and gay rights.  I have marriage equality and gay rights as issues I follow in mys stream, along with abortion. I'm a straight woman. The same people who hate you--also hate me. The same right-wing fundies who backed Prop 8 also try to ban abortion or limit it every chance they get. You may not ever be pregnant--but I am sure you have female friends whom it could effect. I am straight so gay marriage doesn't effect me directly--but it effects the gay friends of mine, so I HAVE to care.

Um - the last time I checked, DADT, DOMA passed and were signed into law.......

While ENDA sits on the shelf - and has sat there for several years (including when Democrats controlled Congress and the White House - and is NOT the law of the land.

Hardly the same thing. :D :D

However - if the HOR passes a pro-LGTB law and it fails to make it past the Senate and the WH, let us know. :D :D

            •  No, precisely the same thing. (0+ / 0-)

HUMAN RIGHTS are the issue here--and if a woman can't control her own body, then she's not able to exercise her other rights.  If you can't see that...

I opposed DOMA, and cheered when MS legalized gay marriage. I'd appreciate a little support going the other way, although I have to admit that women's issues here are more likely to be supported by gay men  than straight ones on DKos.

PLENTY of restriictons already signed into law on abortion that make it nearly impossible to get one in some places if you're a teen with abusive or fundy parents or a poor woman or simply live in the wrong state.   How is that NOT like DOMA? Or is it just that abortion isn't one of your issues so you're tired of seeing dairies on it?

No - the 'issue' of my post had nothing to do with human rights.

Perhaps you should re-read what i wrote and try to figure out the point I was making - which, again, had nothing to do with the merits of either issue.

                •  I read your posts. (0+ / 0-)

You don't think of these bills will get passed. But they HAVE--on the state level--and this SCOTUS will likely uphold them as they have other restrictions that have made abortion more legal in name than in practice.  The equivalent would be  if after Lawrence  v. Texas, states proceeded to create laws which restricted homosexuality and the SCOTUS  upheld them despite Lawrence.

This is happening all over the country tight now--Foxx's nuttiness is just the tip of the iceberg.  Just because you assume it won't pass the Senate, doesn't make it less dangerous.

You simply think we are over-reacting and writing about stuff that you could care less about. My suggestion? If I could care less about  marriage equality--I happen to, so I follow the issue closely--I wouldn't read diaries about. Why don't you TRY THAT instead of tellign women we're wasting  bandwidth.
