Many of these candidates have ALREADY performed on the national stage, and POORLY.

What Billy told you may be true, but 1980 was Reagans first national run.

Mittens, Sarah, and the Newt have all been national for at least a couple of years now. and the nation ain't buying them.

    Jon Huntsman - Mormon
Rick Perry - hated in his own state R's AND a secessionist.
    Bachmann - nuts AND stupid
    Pawlenty - drip

Nope, if they don't find a dark horse, they're finished.

was Regan's first run as GOP nominee. He ran in 1972 and 1976 and in 1976 almost captured the nomination.

completely wrong about Reagan.  This was Reagan's third run at the nomination.

The average voter doesn't know much about Romney, and has only a vaugue memory of Newt.  Palin has bigger problems, but I don't think she is getting the nomination.

It is common for Democrats to think the GOP doesn't have a decent candidate (and Vice versa).

In my experience Democrats are very bad at evaluating GOP candidates.
