  •  This is where Kasich and his cronies (0+ / 0-)

are going to get reamed next year — wealthy suburban districts that are proud of their schools (I assume you are one because in Ohio, school rankings correlate exactly with family income — schools rated "excellent with distinction" are in communities with three times the media family income as those rated "academic emergency." I think it was Ohio Policy Matters that did the study). These districts are up in arms; they are booing their legislators at townhall meetings. Many of the families sacrificed to move to these towns that have excellent schools and are irate that money is being slashed to fund more inner-city warehouses i.e. for-profit charter schools.

    •  The correlation isn't perfect... (0+ / 0-)

Our district is made up of two cities and two townships. Three are blue collar, and very affected by plant shutdowns and relocations. The other is 8-10 year old subdivisions (repurposed farmland), with big houses on little lots. Affluent in the recent past, not so much these days... Lots of for sale aligns, empty storefronts, and angry taxpayers.
