It's that Macs are incredibly hard to infect unless you can fool the user.

Most malware today involves fooling the user. Exploits are relatively rare.

Can you imagine the HUGE bragging rights and props for a malware writer (among malware writers) for someone who could write a serious Mac virus? The fact that it has almost never been done speaks more to the inherent security of Macs than to the omnipresence of Windoze.

You go right on believing that. Actually, the National Vulnerability Database has catalogued more vulnerabilities for OS X than it has for Windows over the past 3 months. This is fairly typical.

But hey, that's pretty clever, spelling "Windoze" like that. Did you think of that yourself?

This story is only "news" because malware for the Mac is so rare.

And that is only because Macs are so rare, especially in Russia and eastern Europe, where most malware is written; hence, there's never been much of a malware creation infrastructure on the Mac side like there has been for Windows. Now that the Weyland-Yutani BOT malware kit is out there, you can expect to see this stuff spread through the Mac community like smallpox through 16th-century North America. Welcome to the real world, kiddo.

You really do believe you are special don't you?

Enjoy your virus infected, crash-prone, kludge-ridden so-called OS.

Windoze has always been crap and always will be.

And I've been seeing Windoze written this way for decades. Get out here into the real world boy-o and try using a real computer some day.

Responding to facts with insults and ad hominems just shows how devoid of substance your position, if indeed it can be called a position, really is.

You might give some consideration to the fact that you're the only one here who seems to think that Macs are somehow magically impervious to infection. Perhaps that will clue you in that some of us actually do know what we're talking about when it comes to computer security, unlike you.

Yawn. The usual content-less reaction to simple truth.

I never expressed any ad hominem attack. I said you were cute. You know: puerile, childish and naive. Jejune, even. Not really an attack. But an accurate description of your attitude. Less defamation of character than definition of character.

Then you threw up a straw man argument saying that I am: "the only one here who seems to think that Macs are somehow magically impervious to infection."

I never said that, you did. I said they are seldom infected because the OS is superior to Windoze. This is the simple truth. You can make up as many pretty stories as you like about why Windoze is the greatest most wonderfullest OS ever in teh history of the outer limits of the whole entire everything. But it's not. Frankly, Windoze is crap. It always has been. Unless there's a huge shake up over at Microsloth it always will be.

I don't need to be an "expert" in computer security to know that.

(By the way, that whole "Microsloth" thing has been around for decades also, just like the "Windoze" thing. You probably haven't heard that one either, living in your protected Windoze bubble of inherent wonderfulness).

Windoze exists because millions of Windoze-oriented IT departments owe their very existence to the utter crappiness of the OS. If it was any good, 50% of them would be out of work and all those highly-paid "managers" would have to give up their massive all-powerful fiefdoms. Nobody can bring down the work of a major corporation quite the way Windoze's designed-in suckiness can bring everything to a grinding halt. For days at a time. Sheesh.

And yet people (of a type that shall remain nameless lest I suffer the baseless ad hominem attack of engaging in ad hominem attacks. Again) still think Windoze has some value or usefulness.

          Yuk.

So many smart people in the world... with two fists. And you with only one nose. Quel dommage.
