  •  It shouldn't hurt to ride a bike (5+ / 0-)

    even with bad knees.  Bicycling is the most highly recommended physical activity for folks with less than stellar knees.  Just make sure your bike fits you properly (you can have that checked out at a local bike shop).  Cycling can help you get rid of the extra pounds so you're in great shape for that knee replacement when you get ready!

      I was in my twenties and very fit when I came down with this (or it came to me). I couldn't cycle for more than a few blocks without terrible pain setting in like a splint under my kneecap. Various doctors have told me to not ride a bike. And my knees told me to sell my bike.
