    had lots of rural counties. A progressive was going to have trouble there no matter what. Even with his supposed centrism, Foster barely managed to beat an awful GOP candidate. Imagine how a progressive would have fared while being crushed in the Fox Valley.

      That wasn't that close.

      See the response below.  Due to growing minority populations in Aurora and Elgin, the demographics had shifted dramatically in the progressives favor.

      Remember, rural means - not alot of people.
