      Set rather low, it would allow most people to donate, but keep the large donation deductions taxable.

      The tax deductions for donations is partly what funds ALEC.  According to the Bob Sloan diary yesterday, most charitable organizations are organized by Alec, including United Way.

        I think I understand the first two sentences of this comment. And yes, rich people make lots of charitable donations at least in part for tax purposes. But this

        requires some further explanation. Are you asserting that, say, Doctors Without Borders, the Nature Conservancy, the Red Cross, and Heifer International, to name just a few prominent charities that spring to mind at random, are organized by ALEC?
