  •  I think it's gonna happen this winter. (8+ / 0-)

I know that their saying Fall.  But there's also the acknowledgement that they're not in control of the process.

When Mike Tate delivered that line, several of us who were in the recall process from the start laughed... because that's just what happened with the senate recalls.  The DPW jumped in because we were going to do it without them.

I think the same will happen this time, and we and they know it.

RECOUNT. Recall - Done!! VOTE!!! Rescind. Rebuild.

to contemplate.  If the recall committees register at the end of the first week in November, there will be three holiday periods to consider in successfully obtaining the 540,250 odd signatures required.  Will the circulators have enough time and desire to go all out at the expense of their families during these times.  Will the electors be approachable at malls, churches and holiday festivals?  What will be the impact of continuous bad and snowy weather on the recall function?

These are important items to be thought about before blindly jumping into a recall period.  Failure because of the above would be felt as a crushing defeat.  I am not saying that it should not be done; I am just very pragmatic about the proper time to get it done successfully.  Emotion should not rule—it has been a long journey after the last few months.

If the state Democrats are merely wishing for the end of 2012 to make the greatest national impact, I disagree.  Strike when the time is best and the iron is hot...

In addition, what about the others that could be recalled?  The whole assembly will be eligible.  Since the elections are next year, it certainly would not be worth the effort for a large scale recall; however, a few vulnerable Republican assembly persons could be targeted to send this house an unmistakable message.  The remaining 17 state senators will also be eligible for recall.  This would be worth a large scale drive against the remaining Republican senators.  Finally, what about recalling the Lt Gov and the ubercon state Attorney General?  These are all things to be considered and carefully worked out.

WI has the Republicans rocked back on their heels. Do not let them off the hook, but think through the process on how to best approach for ultimate success.
