  •  The Scott Walker approval numbers, as well (4+ / 0-)

as those for the others governors listed in the chart above are discouraging, but not unexpected. This has been building in the U.S. for some time now. But Kkkarl Rove provided the boost that was needed to culminate in the all-out hatefest that is American politics in 2011.
After September 11, the country was ready to come together like it hadn't since WWII. But rather than let that happen, Rove, Cheney, Bush, et al, decided to create a 'permanent Republican majority'. Rather than join together, they used 9/11 as a sword. Max Cleland, who lost both legs and an arm in Viet Nam was called a bin Laden sympathyzer. Repubs were conditioned, by fear and loathing, to believe that Dems were worthless and weak. This country has always had discord, but not like this. This is different.
They have sown the wind. Sadly, the whirlwind that they reap may destroy our country as we once knew it.

overseas and sheltered accounts, enough resources and apartments and houses outside the US to be unaffected by anything that might blow up in everyone else's faces here, and an ability to get the hell out of here by private copter and plane at a moment's notice.  The only wind they've sown will be at their backs, helping them smoothly sail ahead and away from the country crumbling and exploding behind them.

That's one more thing to add to my long list of small problems. --my son, age 10

      •  I agree. I've thought for quite some time (3+ / 0-)

that most of these creeps with 7 figure incomes and 8 figure net worth have a Plan B that includes an escape pod of some sort.

        •  I don't think they'll leave the country (4+ / 0-)

They've got their gated communities and their private security forces.

They're turning us into a Latin American country, where the elites live in a different world.

          •  I guess it just depends on just how bad it gets. (0+ / 0-)

If it gets bad enough, they won't want to live in fear of stepping outside the compound without a bodyguard.  OTOH, I agree that it could get just bad enough to stay.
However, if it's VERY bad, why not move to England, Oz, France (the horror), an island in the sun? Why live a life in fear if you have the money to go elsewhere and live without always looking over your shoulder?
