Any idea what Loretta Sanchez does if the proposed map goes into effect?  Seems she's screwed.  I can't see her having a legitimate shot against Rohrabacher in that new Huntington Beach district.  Could she try her luck in that less republican nearby Garden Grove district?

Eliminating Loretta Sanchez's district is such a blatant Section 2 violation that there is absolutely zero chance that it will be in the actual maps. This is not even a borderline type of situation: You have a pre-existing highly compact majority-minority district that has been dismantled three ways in a classic vote-dilution maneuver.

If this map actually goes into effect, which in my view is virtually impossible since it'd be blocked by preliminary injunction if it gets anywhere close to passage, then my guess is that Loretta Sanchez will run in the majority-Latino district drawn by the court that subsequently strikes it down.

the greatest luck being elected from the North, in my opinion, where she could work on turning out Placentia, Anaheim, La Palma, and parts of Fullerton.  (Yorba Linda is deadly, but not as deadly as Newport Beach and its neighbors.)  But in all likelihood this map won't stand.
