    itself...the issue, even in this flood, is protection of the whole of the aux diesel generators. That's issue no 1. The second issue is the amount of time the plant can, while off line, be protected through ambient cooling after loss of all station power. These are the only two serious scenarios I can think of in terms of issues that could cause a real emergency and not the formal, regulated "emergency event" (A SCRAM is an emergency event, BTW, if brought on by, say, a failed relay, a small quake but big enough to initiate the SCRAM, etc).

    I think the title is fear mongering as it immediately brings to mind the ACCIDENT in Japan. On the hand, reliability and screaming headlines, even when I agree with them, is par for the course of any blog, and DK is no exception.
