I'm all for more women in congress, but they have a track record of endorsing so-so moderate candidates over strong progressive ones.

only endorse pro-choice women. Meaning if a moderate pro-choice woman went up against a progressive man, they have to endorse the woman. Their donors demand it and really they should. Considering those are it's two main aims.

I'm only so-so on single issue groups in general, and Abortion is nowhere near the litmus test for me that it is for a lot of people.

      •  BeloitDem has a point though (0+ / 0-)

For instance, in AL-07 in 2010, EMILY's List endorsed Terri Sewell over netroots-backed candidate Shelia Smoot.

        •  Was there a large difference (0+ / 0-)

between the two? I remember reading some of Smoot's diaries. Emily's List, like all other national groups, tends to back the establishment candidate. Which I believe Terri Sewell was.

          •  Of the top of my head (0+ / 0-)

the worst example I can think of besides TN-09 was NY-26 in 2008, where they picked Alice Kryzan over Jon Powers. She was both more moderate and probably a worse candidate.

            •  Both cases involved (0+ / 0-)

a woman vs. a man. There was zero chance that either men would be chosen. Besides the fact that they rescinded their endorsement in TN-09 and NY-26 was pretty much out of reach either way.

                •  Like I've said and they have admitted, (0+ / 0-)

they have made mistakes. I'm sure they vet their candidates more carefully, now. The candidates they've endorsed, including Hochul, this cycle, have been top notch.
