before and will again, no doubt.  I also think this statement accepts the media/Republican framing:

Bobswern is critical of the President's economic policies.  With 9% unemployment in his third year of presidency, I'm surprised more are not.

In the face of the worst economic crisis since the great depression it is surprising that the unemployment rate is not higher.  I attribute this to the work of the administration.  Surely if the Republicans had been in power or if they have their way now, it will be higher than 9%.  Too many times the media and other critics of the Obama administration tend to underestimate the damage potential of the Wall Street collapse.  Perhaps inviting Stiglitz to join the administration instead of Summers would have made a difference, perhaps not--we won't know because it didn't happen.  That's an awful easy position to take as we have nothing to judge that contention against.  People tend to point out FDR's policies following his election and hold them up to show where the President has fallen short.  But four years after FDR was elected, unemployment was still at 9.9% despite, what was at that time a massive stimulus plan.  Additionally FDR had overwhelming support in Congress unlike the President.

Now these are facts which bobswern never mentions when he criticizes the President's economic policies.  I know that we will continue to disagree on some things, but I appreciate the opportunity to discuss our disagreements in a respectful manner.

I tend to agree with this:

It would have been far worse without the measures taken.

      Take care.
