    (if I remember the name correctly) the best airline, at least circa 1971 when they were flying radial-engined Geese. Being 6 foot 3 and about 230 lbs, on the two occasions when I flew on one of those I was in the right hand front seat for the best balance. About 4 feet from a 450 hp P&W, but I love round engine noise anyway. Here's a shot from the cockpit as we landed at Long Beach:

    The landing at Catalina always elicited a scream from the passenger cabin according to the pilot. There was always at least one passenger who didn't know what "amphibian" meant, lol. And sure enough, that happened on my flight out to the island.
