i think they are thinking that this self destructive asshole doesn't have the personal discipline to jerk off without making a international spectacle of himself, and anybody stupid enough not to realize that this behavior could only come to one end is not worth two cents of political capital.

is the Victorian era prudery that the American public displays, which apparently the progressive community shares. It's pathetic.

complained that they wanted to talk politics, and Weiner kept turning the e-conversation back to sex.... where does that fit in the Victorian era prudery?

behavior. in his position, the expectation should be that you accept the political environment as it is while simultanously trying to change it for the better. Weiner showed through is actions he didn't give shit about doing that, and was more interested in using his position to score chatroom jollies. we are talking about the basic personal discpline required of a leader. he failed that requirement and failed the constituents he was trying to represent.

the tragedy is that he had the talent to do a very good job of representing them, but not the discipline to sacrifice his personal desires to ensure he did nothing to marginalize his advocacy for them. and having humiliated himself on the grand scale, he still expected others to sacrifice for him (by defending him) for no other reason than to save his position for himself.

in my book that is incredible self-centered behavior on a level that destroyed whatever value he had to progressive causes whether he remained in office or not.
