  •  Ugly defenses by a lot of progressives... (6+ / 0-)

You know, I always thought that one of the ugliest things to come out of the 'D' side of the whole Clinton-Lewinsky scandal was the way so many would-be progressives quickly decided to destroy Monica Lewinsky as some home-wreaking harlot.

As a believer in gender equality - I readily accept that woman are free and able to pursue and fulfill their own carnal wants without needing to "asked first"... but setting aside gender, you had the most powerful man in the world having an affair with a much younger intern.   It was inappropriate and frankly - more than a bit disgusting - the way a lot of Democrats then decided to make it open season on Lewinsky.

There's a strong current of the same here....

At least two of the recipients in question have said they didn't want 'weiner pics' -- they wanted to talk politics.  By all indications, they're likewise Democrats and progressives -- not moles.  One described the exchanges as "creepy".

Now... I'm not saying that makes it a crime necessarily.

But those of you trying to play this "victorian prudery" game -- give me a break.

This wasn't some guy with a big appetite for e-sex engaging in it with willing partners....

This was a guy sending unsolicited pics and advances to women that didn't want them, women who instead, wanted to talk politics with him.

    Victorian prudery?

Give me a break... I find 'sexting' a bit odd, but if both parties are interested in sharing - have at it, doesn't bother me.

Clearly - this was not a two-way street.  This was a married adult taking advantage of his 'hero status' to get cheap thrills sending pics to people who didn't want them.

It's not 'prudery' to say that's wrong... I'm not saying it's a capital or even prosecutable crime... but it's wrong all the same, call Weiner a sexual jackal or sexual scavenger rather than a sexual predator.

If two people mutually agree to send racy pics or notes to each other, that's one thing...

But someone really needs to explain to me how a guy with some sort of 'star power' sending unsolicited sexts to women that didn't want them is any way OK by progressive standards.

Full Disclosure: I am an unpaid shill for every paranoid delusion that lurks under your bed - but more than willing to cash any checks sent my way
