    project-based social studies core curriculum, with every wider circles of community as you moved through the grade levels, including experiential projects like designing a functioning school post office or cafeteria and such, plus trying to get out into the real community to see how things functioned.  Easier said than done.  

    The program director, Scott, was experienced at implementing the Dewey curriculum at a private progressive school but may have bit off a little too much trying to get all these newer teachers who were not experienced in the Dewey approach up to speed on it.

    I am a parent but not a teacher, but my take on teachers in any holistic pedagogy like Dewey or Waldorf is that they have to be almost magicians... certainly way more than instructors, that somehow get the kids to lead themselves through the required curriculum rather than instructing them on it.
