    It wasn't just the hunger, it was how it was produced. How it systematically destroyed every friggin resource the people had.

    Because of the "backyard steel" program, provinces lost 33% to 80% of their trees for firewood. Because of the "irrigate everywhere" there was soaked land. Then they had a season of heavy rain, and top soil washed away, mud slides everywhere, land flooded as the soil couldn't absorb it. The majority of acreage was lost to farming.

    Just a whole Rube-Goldbergish collapse of all eco-systems. Then, planting the seeds two feet down according to Communist Agricultural Theory, didn't help much either. Or the selling of "excess" food to gain foreign currency.

    The dude was sucking opium all along, literally.


    Until we break the corporate virtual monopoly on what we hear and see, we keep losing, don't matter what we do.
