  •  That's it exactly. (4+ / 0-)

The working class is anyone who actually works for a living. From agricultural laborers and meat packers, to retail clerks and warehouse handlers, to cooks and nurses and teachers and firemen and cops and toll takers, to cubicle men and small business owners, to bank tellers and computer technicians and truck drivers and the folks who work info desks - all of us. Anyone who can get fired, anyone who exists on a paycheck and can lose their home if that paycheck stops - all of us.

We are all workers. We are all the working class. We all deserve to have healthcare, safe and wholesome food, safe streets with clean air and water, a secure home, safe reliable energy, an environment that reinvigorates, a system of education that keeps us stimulated for life, control over our daily lives and workplace.

Call it "the middle class" - though that implies stratification. "Living the American Dream" is better - but that would require reclaiming it from the corporations who have defined us as "consumers" rather than citizens.

But it is all of us who work, and even includes those who can't work through no fault of their own. We are American citizens.

They say "cut back" - we say "fight back"!
