    expression "American values". As far as I understand the values they are talking and thinking about are pretty universal, how is it that they get "a nationality" conditioner attached.

    It implies that other nations don't have similar values. Ever thought about how that sounds in non American ears? I am just trying to find out what my "German values" are and I have a hard time finding that they are any different from "American values" and my hunch is that other countries won't find the "Spanish" or "Greek" or "Italian" values they are yearning their governments to live up to be any different from your "American values".

    How about dropping the word "American" from your value system? Would really help to win "hearts and minds" of non Americans ...
