  •  I can provide symptomatic descriptions, but it's (8+ / 0-)

...hard to know the cause with any certainty.

    Basically:

        - Connectivity was unreliable--established pairings with "Netroots" dropped without explanation.

        - Coverage was uneven--in some spots the WiFi signal was full-strength, in others barely observable.

        - Speed through the channel was highly variable, as was latency.  Some of this is to be expected from the high usage levels, but it was far in excess of what I would expect.  This appears to be due, in part, to a complete lack of QoS at the border router.

        - Also related to QoS:  for those of us who wanted to stream panels informally, there was no way of guaranteeing enough bandwidth or low latency to survive through the entire panel.  Admittedly, this is a somewhat unique problem, as most users wanted Internet access just to check websites or email.

There are a number of solutions to these problems which I could propose, if I knew the source of the issues, but it's mainly knowing what the vendor is capable of and what the vendor is willing to do.
