Lately, like today, yesterday, and this past weekend, I have noticed road construction everywhere I drive here in Western Mass and down through just north of Hartford, CT.

Much of this is newly started construction of a greater intensity than that which I noticed in 2009/10.  I believe that there was a lot of truth to Obama's clumsy admission that the "shovel-ready projects" were not as "shovel-ready" as first thought, but are now coming on line.  Permitting, contractor, sub-contractor, equipment and material gathering and scheduling must take time.  And my observation is that that time has expired.

Perhaps states have been sitting on unspent stimulus funds as planned projects commence?

It is not as easy as passing $400 billion is stimulus funds and then just throwing bodies, equipment and so forth at wide-scale projects.  This is my hunch anyway.  I suppose I could check for slated and spent stimulus funds and so forth, but that is why you are a Frontpager and earn the big bucks.  :)

Keep up the good and useful writing.  Thanks.
