    the earth will suffer.

    it's like saying "the earth will be fine" when the comet hit that ended the Mesozoic.

    it took the earth's living systems 10s of millions of years to recover from the Permian extinction.

      If you say "The earth will die and suffer", all too many ignorant, shortsighted people don't care, unfortunately.

      If you say "YOUR CHILDREN will die and suffer if you do nothing" they have to actively argue with you, at the very least.
