    if Perry represents a decent candidate.  Why not go for someone like John Thune or Pat Toomey who are certainly orthodox conservatives and popular in their home states?

      1) Because the GOP is not going to take away their chance at gaining a majority in the Senate by removing two GOP Senators (especially one in a Lean Democratic swing state).

      2) Because I'll support anything which might remove Perry from a position of power within Texas. :)

        seriously, he's like the guy you get to play the president on TV too with that jaw.  My point was that Perry just adds weight to the ticket, he brings nothing that otherwise generic conservative does.  And I can see them picking Toomey because if he still has 45/25 approval breakdown or whatever it was in the lastest polls then he could swing Pennsylvania if it's close, not that I think it will be.

        As for the other reason, Bill White probably has a pretty good chance at winning if he runs again.
