If centrist Dems are the best we can do in some states, then so be it. As long as they represent the desires of the voters, there's no problem. The problem is those who support the corporations and the wealthy over the people.

Remember, please, the real fight today isn't about right and left. It's about whether power should lie in the hands of the plutocracy, or the people. And in this fight we need to take any help we can get. Even the Tea Party has voted on our side a few times.

I agree that we should only give money to those who are supporting us, and since many of the Dems do not qualify, I won't give to the national groups. But I won't automatically assume that a Blue Dog doesn't deserve my money. I will look at the situation in that person's state and see if they are working for the good of their citizens.

I know some people are more interested in ideological purity, and I respect that, but I just want to elect the most progressive people possible for any given area. In some places, we have to accept that small steps are better than none.

...there are counties in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, the Carolinas, Louisiana, Tennessee, etc. that don't have any Progressives in them at all.  This fact is lost on many members of this blog.  I am a Progressive.  However, I'd rather have a Blue Dog in a Southern County that votes 50% of the time with the Dems than a Rand-Paul type wingnut who votes with the Dems zero percent of the time.

That being said, it doesn't matter to me whether people contribute to the DNC or to individual candidates or Progressive Causes.  The key is BEING INVOLVED.  If you're involved in some way,  you're helping the Progressive Cause.

and now that the Republicans have "taken back" my district, I very much miss them.  Yes, I did support them, because I knew, even if I didn't agree with them 100% of the time, that they were the best we could expect given the district demographics. I regret that some people won't support anyone unless they're ideologically pure, because an ideologically pure candidate doesn't have a realistic chance of winning in some areas.
