  •  I don't see the logic (0+ / 0-)

    of how you 'preserve medicare' on the one hand, and yet the scheduled medicare cuts take place on the other. What the author refers to is the Sustainable Growth Rate reductions which, if they go through would lower reimbursement to medicare providers by 27%, while at the same time doing nothing to decrease their practice costs. Therefore they will stop seeing medicare patients.
    My view is you go after the offsets and get rid of the SGR entirely; perhaps funded with a medicare surtax based on income
