    ...is what this discussion should really be about. Few people realize just how much power Congress gave away to the President when that act was passed. It essentially gave the President the authority to declare war on anyone with only the thinnest of pretenses about it being a response to threats of terrorism.

    The WPA was an abdication of Congressional authority that was only made worse by the AUMF.

      He's not claiming that he's got authority to do this under the AUMF, or that this is "part of the global war on terror".

      He's just claiming that every President has the right to go to war whenever he likes as long as the only forces we deploy on the ground are Merc's and other CIA assets, not regular military.

      Mayan culture was strong enough to save the Mayan people from Mayan civilization.
