  •  About those paid 'sick days'.... (2+ / 0-)

We worked for a year without any sick time, personal time, or any time off with pay at all.  You didn't come in (for whatever reason) you didn't get paid.  And you were spoken to.  It was hard, but not impossible to all of us who didn't abuse the 'time off' policy.
But then a new HR group came in and initiated quite interesting and draconian 'time off' policies.  They call the policies 'generous'.  Hmmmm....
We now have 5 paid sick days.  Great you say????
....if you should use a 'sick day' it's counted against you (a demerit) and 'sick days' are not allowed for personal time or to care for a child in which case you don't get paid AND you get the demerit (if you want to get paid, you have to lie if either case is the reason), if you're a minute late - a demerit, doesn't matter why, if you're stuck in traffic (some of us travel quite a distance) or were delayed by snow - a demerit.  A minute.  But god forbid you say're labeled 'negative' and more, and life becomes 'interesting'.
But I've been told that's how 'they' manage us.
These new policies border on the sadistic.  Very stressful.
And a definite war on workers/people.

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!
