    coach - the likes of whom have more than once promised to "turn this team around 360 degrees" upon assuming control of a long-losing program . . . .

      all the time.  Teams replace coaches typically when they're bad, and generally for reasons independent of the coach, they inevitably start to improve.  Then, over time, they start to stink again, and the coach is replaced, having gone the full 360.  There's like 5 coaches in the NFL who consistently outperform the mean, and one of them is Andy Reid who can't manage the clock for shit.  This should tell you something about how overrated NFL coaching is.
