  •  I shall vote Republican (9+ / 0-)

Because I know I will be able to keep my guns and ammunition!

Believe it--I have had friends tell me exactly this.

    Sad, but true.

    •  After President Obama was elected, (8+ / 0-)

many - if not most - of my Republican friends started stockpiling guns and ammunition.

They knew - for a fact - that "Obama was gonna repeal the second amendment" and that "Obama was gonna put a $500 tax on each bullet"...

Of course, the NRA and the small-arms corporations were in heaven (in fact, they were probably behind the lies); sales went through the roof, ammunition of certain calibers was backordered for months, and their coffers overflowed with cash.

Also, of course, there were no additional federal restrictions on firearm or ammunition purchase or ownership passed even during the first two years of the Obama presidency when the Democrats had solid congressional majorities as well as the White House.

I'd like to be charitable and say these people are ignorant, but I don't think that's the case...I think that they are simply very, very stupid.

And they still will believe all the bad things about Democrats (lies) and all the good things about Republicans (lies), and vote accordingly.

      •  I saw this too (5+ / 0-)

It was collective insanity.  And the number of billboards for guns, ammo and gun shops increased overnight, and those are still up.

Needless to say, they are being propagandized and they are buying the whole load of BS

Also have stockpiled ammo and weapons.  What's sad to me, is that some of these same people claim they are Democrats!  It is infuriating to see them drinking the Kool-aid.  They are the same ones who are teachers who voted for Corbett and then were shocked they've been furloughed!

I really need to know how people who by all accounts are smart in so many ways can be hoodwinked into believing all the crap.

I also stockpiled a bit of .22 calibre ammunition (darn spell check, LET me use the "r" before the "e" in this case!), but it was because I thought that the price would increase because of the cost of the metal in the casings.

There is ZERO chance of any significant restrictions on firearms for the foreseeable future, and GCA 1968 was just one of the very early moves by firearms manufacturers to use public opinion to corner the market.  Perhaps I have a different take that most folks, but I believe that was corporatist maneuver to gain market share.  If I am incorrect, please tell me how so.

          Warmest regards,

          Doc

I have a new, secret crush. Nothing will come of it, but it is fun.

The gun/ammo companies were laughing as they ran to bank their huge new profits.

The idiots were providing those new profits -- and I don't mean you, of course, I mean the RW Paranoid Set who still believe their precious bodily fluids deadly weapons and ammo would be taken from them and they would be forced into labor camps so they could create the fictional freeway from Mexico to Canada, destroying any nation in its wake (the U.S.A.).

Honestly, I don't know how people can be so stupid and still survive.

Over the past 30-odd years, the Democrats have moved to the right, and the Republicans have moved into a mental hospital. --Bill Maher
