  •  yes... they will compromise... (13+ / 0-)

Not even a question anymore. They could do nothing and come out better. I really have to believe its what the Democrats want.
I've held my nose long enough - any politician that cuts into SS, Medicare or Medicaid for a compromise in which the other side won't give up a thing is a fool and won't get my vote.
I can tell you there are quite a few older people in my swing state of PA that are gonna run right into the GOP's arms when they start running the ads about Obama cutting SS, if they haven't already.

    •  Just incredible! (13+ / 0-)

I can't believe that 6 years after a major Democratic policy victory, when they stood up to Bush's batshit crazy plan on SS, that they are now going to agree to these cuts.  It is as if they want to lose the WH and the Senate.

It may be time to give up on the National Democratic Party and focus our attention on getting good democrats elected at the local and state level.  It will be painful for a few election cycles, but these same good Democrats we elect locally will soon be the ones running for national office.

I kept hearing "you have to vote D, if you want better Ds, then use the primaries..."  Well, what happened to that?  Rahm Emanuel runs a bunch of corporatists against actual liberals in the primaries in 06 an 08.  The WH, establishment Dems, and Bill Clinton rushed to save Blanch Lincoln, just like they rushed to save Joe Lieberman.  The DCCC gave millions to blue dogs and not one thin dime to liberals like Grayson.

We need another strategy.  I am honestly not sure what to do.

You want my ideas on improving education? Whatever Arne Duncan proposes, do the opposite.

"They could do nothing and come out better."

      I agree 100%.

I think a lot of elderly people were starting to question whether republicans were on their side. If this garbage passes, they will do what we do and hold their nose and vote for them anyway, as the lesser of two evils.

We Won't Let Republicans Replace Medicare with GOP Vouchercare!
