I appreciate it. It was a little rambling and disorganized at times, but I don't have hours to spend on it. :(

What are your thoughts about the claim some have made that the Constitution allows Obama to ignore the debt ceiling limit law?

On the one hand, it seems the simplest solution for both parties would be for him to exercise that prerogative. Republicans don't have to cave, democrats don't have to cut anything, and the debt ceiling gets lifted so Obama can help protect the economy.

The down side is that republicans will accuse him of acting like a dictator and doing what he wants and ignoring the law.

      You laid it out perfectly.

The damage has been done, psychologically, globally, already.

Since the US is a debtor nation and the US Dollar is a unit of debt (and not wealth), as demonstrated here:

...the only thing we had going for us was the world's confidence in our government.

      That's gone.

Yes, of course, the President, if forced, would pay the debts (especially foreign) as per the constitution. Without out honoring that clause/commitment, we would be finishied as a nation since we borrow 40 cents of every dollar we spend -- 20 to 30 cents of it from foreigners.

But in that case, we would either have to suspend our wars or print more money.

If we print more money (ie. a QE III) we will have an inflation explosion.

As for what "Republicans" will say -- I think Obama should announce that he's a communist nazi fuckstick from Kenya -- and give them some real red meat for a change.

Kerep them busy, braying like hounds.
