but the pilot would have a whole lotta 'splainin' to do. Like why he didn't land on the active runway, or why he lined up to land on a closed runway, or why he didn't abort the landing for another go round when he saw the big X and the people and vehicles in the way.

Landing a plane is not a quick decision, like parking a car. If you're obeying the rules (haha - as if!), you ask for clearance from the tower, find out which runway to use, and go around the airport, looking all around you all the time (including down at the active runway!) if you're on VFR, which I hope to God Inhofe was. I shudder to think how he would fly under IFR. There's no credible excuse for landing on a closed runway, other than a flight emergency. Of course, there are plenty of lame excuses.

I'd like to know how many hours Inhofe has had in the cockpit, and whether his license will be suspended, as it should be.

      Effing idiot.

Imhoff has 50 years' experience flying, and over 10,000 hours flight time. By comparison, I'm a complete greenhorn, never solo'd, and even I know you don't land on a runway marked X unless it's a desperate emergency.

He's 76. When was the last time he had his eyesight checked?
