Why didn't he do anything about jobs in 2009 and 2010 when he had big majorities in the House and Senate?

I agree with Digby -- Obama is pushing these policies because he believes in them.  He's not a progressive, he doesn't even seem to be a Democrat.  Why the HELL would he put social security back on the table when even Ryan was scared to go after it?

    •  Because these "big majorities" are full of RWers (0+ / 0-)

There is an extremely large contingent of conservatives in the Democratic Party, and they will vote with the unified Republican bloc every time. There are virtually no moderates to work with anymore.

Times have changed. It's an all or nothing polarization right now.

    •  SS was by an anonymous source (0+ / 0-)

we have seen repeatedly people blowing up in hyseria because of anonymous sources proven to be wrong. And oh yes he did do lots for jobs. The recovery act and the Affordable Care Act did us good. Hell...the Affodable Care Act got ME hired after not having a job ever in 22 years. he believes in what we believe in however there is one big problem...we keep letting GOP get seats. He is the President of the United States, not the President of the Progressive Party. If we had yo as President we would have failed on healthcare and we would have a 12% unemployment rate without DADT repealed and millions of people without unemployment. It's easy to see that Obama has some blame, but not all of it when you just take off your idealogue hat and actually think.

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
