  •  It really says a lot (6+ / 0-)

that so many people here feel the need to tear down FDR in order to make Obama look better.  Of course, that is really hard to do now that he is an enabler of torture.

    •  Oh Please. (0+ / 0-)

I don't recall ever reading about FDR enabling the torture of anyone.

Okay, the firebombing of civilians in Dresden, Germany was a joint British/American campaign.  But that was different, I think.

apparently due to ancient hardware and the transition to dk4 I can't recc tip jars or comments any longer so in lieu of the 'standard nod' you'll see a variety of replies until this gets fixed or becomes a mighty big fucking pain in the ass

      •  Obama is Wall Street's president (3+ / 0-)

It's not necessary to deify FDR to recognize that he was the right man for the right time -- a man born to wealth who, because of great unexpected personal hardship, came to identify with those who were born to hardship. He acted on this empathy by fighting throughout his presidency to improve the lot of those who had been devastated by the depression. He more than anyone is responsible for establishing the social safety net that Obama doesn't have the fighting spirit to defend. Obama is exactly the wrong man for hard times. What part of this do you FDR haters not understand? Do you not read history? Is the gap between your expectations of Obama -- we all had them -- and the reality of his abysmal failure too wide for you to bridge? Obama bailed out the Wall Street crooks but has done nothing to create jobs, nothing to help the poor and middle class. Why do you defend him?

      •  I don't know (5+ / 0-)

JoanMar, what does is say about and about the two men in question, one of whom built the New Deal and one who is trying to tear it down?

    •  I know this, if FDR had people on these many (0+ / 0-)

blogs, these many corporate owned networks, the military complex, PACs and lobbyist and corporations were people, he would have been bumping his head against the wall. Good some people only had radios.
