That doesn't mean we can't get our mojo back, but we've lost it at the moment. If the current crop of Republicans were in charge of the party back in the 1960s, there's no way in hell we would've ever gone to the moon in the first place.

all the identical same bubbles including high tech, stocks and real estate that burst the same way with a property bust in Florida.

But there was nothing out of the ordinary about that other than the size, and our newly acquired ability to spread our disaster to a global crash. They've always run America, and that's how America has always been from the moment the framers handed us the keys.

      The Panic of 1819
      Panic and Depression 1832
      Panic and Depression 1836
      Six Year Depression 1837-1843
      The Panic of 1857
      Panic and Depression 1869-1871
      The Panic of 1873
      The Panic of 1893
      The Panic of 1901
Panic, Global Crash and Depression of 1929

The only reason there was a 50 year exception in our national destiny was that in the last big crash the owners and bankers were seriously weakened enough to allow a temporary fix, and the threats of lethal external enemies was too much a threat to their interests to allow them to go to full war against we-the-people who were temporarily containing them.

That threat ended in the 80's and it's no accident that their war on the people started shortly before that as soon as they saw they'd be free and clear of those risks.

We are called to speak for the weak, for the voiceless, for victims of our nation and for those it calls enemy.... --ML King "Beyond Vietnam"
