  •  Small rooms or large rooms? (3+ / 0-)

I don't use the phrase "I am blessed" often, but my husband and I are blessed that three of our four children live with their families in the same town we live in.  On any given family meal together, there are a minimum of 15, which includes seven grandchildren of all ages.  We need a big house and have one in the country just outside the town.  The last time our two year old grandson was here, he looked out the back windows, didn't see any deer, and looked at Popper as if to ask, where are your pets, Popper?  Frankly, I dread the day when I have to down-size to a small house or worse yet, a nursing home with small windows.

However, the point is raised that some people prefer small rooms (cosy) and some people like large rooms in their houses.  I have always preferred large rooms.

(three generations) on Thanksgiving and Christmas when I was a kid in the '50s. All these years later, the six of us cousins are lifelong friends. My whole life has been richer because of those friendships.

My current house also has large rooms and I've had some good get-togethers in the past. The house and its rooms are too large for me, but I'd like to do that again some fine day.

Although the time may come when I have to move, it will break my heart, as I will be leaving a beautiful view that is precious to me. From here on the bluff, we see the river below, hills all the way to the horizon, and 180 degrees of sky. With so much open land behind us, we get a variety of wildlife and see lots of birds on the feeder. The mists on the river are like those in Monet's series on the Seine. Remarkably to me, the sunsets have the same colors and feel sometimes, too.

If I could find the right people, it could make three studio apartments or one studio upstairs and a two-bedroom home below. Just hoping, I guess. (I'll take the upstairs studio ;)

All the best to you and your family.
