I have a McJob.  It pays the rent (sort of).

Long ago, I realized that retirement was out of the question.  But aches & pains make it unlikely that I can keep this up until 65, much less 67.

If I could afford a doctor, I would try for disability.  That would pay approx. what I'm making now, and maybe my shoulder and elbow would stop hurting after a while.

But when you have a McJob, you don't earn enough to cover the deductible.  No doctor for YOU.  So you keep on plugging (and try to get the kids to do a bit of work instead of texting and talking on the phone).

I will work til forever it seems, no retirement for me.
I have a crappy, boring, demeaning job which doesn't cover my bills.  I am slowly, but surely, sliding into deeper debt as one of the working poor.  I do have healthcare (a joke because I can't afford to go to a doctor) and in the infrequent cases (thank god) I do need one, they yell at me because I don't go to the doctor on a regular basis, and they want to do all the tests someone my age should have, but ones I simply can't afford.  The last one I went to kept saying my deductible would cover the tests even though I kept telling him my deductible was sky high and wouldn't cover anything.  The result of that visit (which should have been only the cost of my co-pay) is that I will have to pay 'out-of-pocket' for every single one of those tests.  Thanks for listening, doc.
I have friends who don't have insurance but who have learned the tricks of the system and are able to get great healthcare (which all the rest of us pay for through our taxes), subsidized housing and a monthly stipend for not doing a god damned thing except lie to the authorities (they have their considerable inheritances and alimony salted far away from the prying eyes of the people who should know about these monies).  Every single one of them is able to work, but why should they, they're on the gravy train.  This has all but ended our friendship.  They take, take, take....and I have no more to give.
And now, I'm close to medicare age, and these bastards want to raise it for 2 more years?
Why?  So the rich can keep their money?  So we can continue with futile wars?  Selfish, selfish, selfish.
I am depressingly disgusted with this whole system.

I think, therefore I am........................... Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose AKA Engine Nighthawk - don't even ask!
