  •  Now look at the use of prisoner labor for $0 (5+ / 0-)

per hour that has been introduced in five states just in the past 3 months.  This is what it is all about, earning profits or saving tax dollars by using inmates (so that savings can then go to pay for privatized services elsewhere).

It is really follow the money here that must be done.  That's what I've been doing for several years regarding prison labor and how I came to ALEC and saw their nefarious activities.  One of the reasons ALEC works so hard to keep their corporate members and donor lists secret.

Every time Wal-Mart or McDonalds got caught profiting off of prisoner labor, they stopped it immediately and issued statements declaring the use of prison or forced labor by a supplier would result in termination of business with them.  Of course they simply put more cutouts between the product and prisoner making it harder to track, but shows how sensitive they are to the bad PR.  If we keep the names of those corporations we know are involved in developing all this horrid corporate legislation for "us", in the news they will begin to drop from membership in ALEC and quite funding their activities.

This may provide a short window until they find a way to do it more surreptitiously, where we can correct some of the wrongs and prepare for the next onslaught.
