    (1) Does boycotting a country ever work?  Our boycott of Cuba cripples their economy but has only enhanced Castro's power.

    (2) If we boycott Israel and manage to cripple their economy, are we guilty of the same crime of collective punishment that we accuse them of?

    I mean, I can understand how people might feel that a boycott is the right thing to do, maybe even regardless of whether it would work, but really, I would prefer to pursue policies that would work.

    Global warming is the inconvenient truth, nuclear power is the inconvenient alternative.
