regarding young voters -- sit out an election and this is what you get.  If it is what you want -- enjoy your sofa.  I've already fought this battle and my ovaries quit 3 years ago.

I'm truly sick of this fight.  I'm truly sick of the small government liars wanting government between women's legs.  Don't vote or vote for unelectables then shut up and deal with the shite that happens.

... as a young voter who was in line within minutes of the polls opening in the last election, that comment struck me as strange. Particularly since, if there was anything that motivated me to vote for the Democrats in 2010, it certainly wasn't the body of writing that was getting published at this site.

There are often a lot of complaints that young women don't care about abortion, but that's too broad. That may be because I have seen and read a lot of young women who do care. But there may be a cultural boundary. For example on the Internet, the young feminists tend to link to each other more, and not so much here, and vice versa. The average age at DKos is pretty high. Many people here do not seem to be aware of what is going on in other places. I recently saw a recc'd diary on a controversy that had been getting discussed in the feminist blogosphere for over a month, mentioned here as if it were the first anyone had ever heard about it. I wish that people here would drop the generation war, but it seems to be pretty ingrained.

marched in DC twice, as well as being President of her local NOW chapter.  She is so disgusted that young women aren't standing up for the rights she fought for.  I keep telling her that the organizing is on-line, but she feels like she should be able to see something in the TM about it.  She does not watch FAUX and has a variety of local channels plus the local paper which is much more liberal than when I was a kid, and liberal talk radio, so she is pretty well informed.  She continues to give to PP, but she would really like to see young women standing up for their rights. I am actually posting this for her and will let her know whatever feedback I get.
