  •  Frequently these diaries (6+ / 0-)

seem to come from Repub trolls trying to demoralize us.

I am going to go on that assumption.

There may be limited differences on some issues between today's Democratic leaders and perhaps Gerald Ford Republicans 35 years ago.

But none between Obama and Michelle Bachman today? Sorry, that's as stupid as anything Rush Limbaugh said today.

If you will not read and reflect on the CTJ analysis, then you are gripped by ideology. It's not healthy.

It did not prove your point.

Please move to AZ, FL, WI, OH, MI or one of the other states where people have learned the difference between Dems and Repubs.

BTW - what the report covers has not been enacted yet. There is a process. The are Dems in the House and Senate who haven't agreed, nor has Obama signed off on this.

        •  Oh, the point was proven. It just eluded you. (1+ / 0-)

A: We just had a nationwide demonstration of the difference between Republicans and Democrats, Sean. It ran between 2001 and 2007. I think we're all aware of what the differences are.

B: This post is specifically about differences on budget issues. In raw numbers, the Obama proposal is 80% identical to the Republican proposal. That does prove my point. Now, the details may be important, but they aren't yet known, because this discussion has been conducted behind closed doors. That in itself is bad. Whatever comes out of negotiations will be sprung on people, with little time to react.

C: It's true that nothing has been enacted. That's why it's important for this information to get out, so that people can respond before they are presented with a fait accompli.

D: If Congressional Democrats do prove themselves to have spines, good. But they are helped in that process by an informed public. The impression I get is that many Kossacks would prefer not to know what's going on. That's sad.
