    I was an independent at the time and, actually, I liked Bush foreign policy positions (which he ignored after 9/11) much more than Gore/Clinton's, but Gore talked about "lock boxes" and Bush talked about some crazy scheme to partially privatize Social Security.

    On a personal level, I didn't really like either one. It was the insufferable one against the dumb one.

    Ideology is an excuse to ignore common sense.

      I never got that at all.  I thought Gore had a wonderful self-deprecating charm, a hysterical deadpan humor, and an awesome grasp of policy.  He'd have been a great President.  

      Every time I think of December 12, 2000, I feel ill.  So much was lost that night.
