three chairs, a table, and a love seat - and I'm changing colors.

It's really old wicker - garage-sale stuff. It would cost me more than I paid for it to paint it with spray paint.

But you are probably right. Might as well... I did, however, buy a little spray can thingy that you put your own paint in, thinned with water. It's CFC-free, and the hardware guy says the 5.00 can of propellant sprays the equivalent of four cans of paint. If it works, I'll do it with that.

    •  That would be a lot easier, if you can do it. (6+ / 0-)

We could all donate a few bucks to help. What color? Do you know yet?

they call "oops" paint - something that was a mixup in the mixing, or for some reason didn't match. They almost give it away... (What I got for the wicker is, as a matter of fact, Ralph Lauren paint, which I find to be snooty, but is good paint.)

Hey, all that color theory I took in art school should be useful, right? I buy "oops" in related colors - like three gallons of slightly different shades of green - then mix all three in a five-gallon bucket.

Voila! Three gallons - three gallons - of sometimes really expensive paint, for almost nothing (like five or six dollars total, for three gallons)!

        Yay! Frugal rules!
