    I would prefer taking action on Jobs as the whole deficit argument is bogus. That said, I understand that there is very little that can be done about jobs as the Republican House will reject any efforts at stimulus.  Personally, I believe Obama wants to get the deficit fight out of the way so that the press, which largely believes the deficit is of overriding concern, won't hammer him continually about it until the election.  That would certainly be a legitimate concern for a campaign strategist at the White House.  A different concern than motivating the base but nonetheless a legitimate concern.

    I was intrigued by the Pew voter typology when I first saw it a few days ago and remain intrigued, however I think it fails to take into account differing attitudes towards issues and differing party and ideology identification by race and gender.  For example, I believe it is still true that white men are more conservative than white women or African American and Latino men and women and so on.
